About Leslie

Leslie Hooton is many things: a three time published author, a fabulous friend, a powerful speaker, a flower enthusiast, a lover of language, a seeker of color in a black-and-white world.

Hi, I’m Leslie….

Kevin Wilson, Kristy Woodson Harvey, Jane Rosen, Patti Callahan, Lisa Barr and others have given blurbs for my novels.

My debut novel, Before Anyone Else (Turner Publishing, 2020), garnered a Zibby nomination.  My second novel, The Secret of Rainy Days (Turner Publishing 2021) was a book club favorite and my third novel, After Everyone Else, the sequel to Before Everyone Else, was also published by Turner in June 2022.

My essays have been published in  Newsweek,  “Moms Don’t Have Time to Grieve.” and Women Writers, Women’s Books.  My books have been featured in Brit + Co,  The Mary Reader, and other outlets.

I was interviewed on the PBS show entitled Emerging Voices in the South. I have appeared on Zibby Owens’s podcast, featured by Julie Chan, Friends and Fiction and their Book Club and numerous other podcasts. I am active on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, and have attended the Sewanee Writers Conference for many years. In addition, I have traveled around the country on my book tours. I would love to come and be a part of your book clubs!

My Favorite Quote:
